Baseband

Using a digital signal. The transmission used is bidirectional and is used only for short-range bus topology. Media used coaxial cable (50 ohm), with specifications IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet), when the core diameter of 0.4 inch coaxial cable and a data rate of 10 Mbps, then this device we can reach a distance of 500 m (known as 10Base5). For longer distances can be used repeater.

Broadband

Using the analog signal by Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM). The spectrum of the transmission media can be divided as needed, to reach farther distances than baseband and support the tree topology.
Broadband is a full undirectional relationship, which requires two data lines. All stations send signals through the inbound and outbound channels to receive signals from the way:
Using two separate cables (dual cable), or
Using a cable with different modulation frequencies (split)
Using a transmission medium 75 ohm coaxial cable and modulated data is always first, better than the baseband because it can transmit voice and video simultaneously.
